What Makes a Business Website Successful

There are many different areas to consider when you are designing a business web site. Most people put a lot of energy into the design and layout – what the site looks like. But this is only part of what you need to consider.

You need to consider site navigation, and usability. This determines how people will find their way around their site and how customer focused it is. Focusing on the benefits to the customer is essential.

You also need to think about written content. This is arguable the most important factor for any site. What you say determines the actions that visitors to your site will take. It is how you sell yourself and get people to trust you. It is also how search engines determine the relevance of your site.

This leads us to search engine optimization and marketing. Your site must be visible to the people that are searching for your expertise. How search engine friendly is your site? Are you going to pay for search advertising?

Then you must also consider metrics. How you are going to track and analyze information about visitors to your site. How are they finding you? How easily do they find their way around your site? How many are converting into customers?

As you can see there are many things to consider when developing a new business web site. You do need to look at all these areas and develop a plan around them. Do some research and become knowledgeable on these individual subjects. This means you can approach your designer and let them know just what you expect from them. You can also be sure that your chance of developing a successful site has greatly improved.
